A PRO helps its EPR members develop and implement collection and recycling schemes for their products to minimise environmental impact and support a circular economy.
Who Must Join a PRO?
Producers in the following sectors must join a PRO for EPR compliance:
- Electrical and electronic equipment (EEE)
- Lighting
- Lubricant oils
- Portable batteries
- Paper and packaging
A producer is a person, business, or brand who puts the above products on the market for sale in South Africa. Examples of producers are manufacturers, importers, and refurbishers.
